This is the story of Castle Caldwell and its families for over 300 years.  It is meant to be an enjoyable story of the lives of the peole of west Fermanagh and adjoining Donegal but nevertheless to have full academic rigour as well.  I originally set out to write an article bringing together the then meagre published material about Castle Caldwell.  However, the discovery of the Caldwell family papers, then unknown to Irish historians, in the John Ryland's Library in Manchester changed everything and the result of research there and other places such as California and Quebec is contained in this book.
