Art in Our Hands: The Power of Healing Through Arts & Heritage
Join creative advisor, artist and Chair of Mental Health Arts NI, Noelle McAlinden, artist, Anna McGurn and filmmaker, Cherry Ingram for a special afternoon of creative reflection complementing our two current exhibitions, “Art in Our Hands” and “To the Edge of Sight”.
The afternoon brings us together through art, memory and shared heritage. It includes a screening of Cherry Ingram’s personal, powerful and important film exploring the stigma surrounding suicide and mental health.
The second half of the afternoon features a conversation between Noelle McAlinden and Anna McGurn. It explores how Anna’s work reflects the challenges, complexities and imperfections that shape our everyday lives. Together, these presentations open up important conversations, encourage a greater understanding of our mental health as well as strengthen community connections through arts and heritage. Refreshments provided.
Content note: The afternoon includes personal stories relating to loss, suicide bereavement, mental health, remembrance and hope. Some of the experiences shared may evoke difficult emotions or memories.
The “Art in Our Hands” project is a partnership project between the Oak Healthy Living Centre, Lisnaskea and Fermanagh & Omagh District Council, supported by the Art Fund. The afternoon is organised in collaboration with Mental Health Arts NI.
Admission free but booking required.
